About..
I love photography and making photo’s. And everything that has to do with it, the art, collecting photo’s, photobooks, the technique and the equipment, the whole shabang.
It all started when I was around 13 or 14 years old and was there to stay. The first camera was – or is as I still have it – the Kodak Nr. 2a Folding Hawk-Eye that belonged to my grandfather. I used it with 120 roll films that didn’t really fit but worked anyway. That camera was soon followed by a Praktika SLR and changing cameras as fast as cars many followed. The Olympus OM10 and OM1, the Nikon F50, EM, FM2n, F90X and then digital, D70-200-700 and now back to film, the Leica M6 and dreaming of the digital equivalent… And the first photo in my starting collection is a photo that I fell in love with a few years ago at the PAN in Amsterdam: ‘M in France’ by Barry Kornbluh.
My main occupation is being a lawyer (www.dntw.nl) but whenever clients and cases permit, I try to find the time for a stroll through town, along the canals and streets in the neighbourhood of office. And besides making photo’s for myself, I do accept assignments. Just contact me through the link on this site.
Favorite fields are street photography, after Ed van der Elsken and HCB, travel photography and concert photography. And what I’m after? Seeing and photographing are two things. It is the emotion in the photo however that counts. When I look at one of my photo’s and it arouses the same emotions as I had when I made the photo, then for me it is a keeper.
