Trip to Paris 1

Just back from a short trip to Paris with good friend and photographer Barry Kornbluh. Our main goal was the big show on André Kertesz at Jeu de Paume. Absolutely worthwhile, a great retrospective of Kertesz’ work with many beautiful prints, like Kertesz’ small prints on postcard paper.

We also wanted to go to the shows on Larry Clark and Jean-Michel Basquiat at the Musée d’Art Moderne but the seemingly endless queue was a big showstopper. If you are planning to go, buy tickets first at FNAC (recommended for all the big museums in Paris). Looking for something else we came across the exhibition Steidl, Quand la photo devient livre. De Robert Frank à Karl Lagerfeld at the Musée de la Monnaie. This was a real surprise and a very good one for that. An hommage to Gerhard Steidl, with great prints, beautiful books and a very tempting bookstore, naturellement… Certainly recommended as a last minute, today is the last day of this show…

And of course we made some photos. Where better to start than at the metro..
