On 28 January I went to the concert of Chris Potter with the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw at the Bimhuis. What a fantastic concert, conducted by Henk Meutgeert, one of the very best I ever heard there! Chris Potter’s is a really great saxophonist, playing both with virtuosity and . The concert ended with the same piece as it started with. Chris joined the orchestra with the second piece and didn’t play along with the first and didn’t know that one. Playing that same one at the end, which obviously was new to him, he gave away a formidable solo in such manner that you can only say that he is of top caliber.
